STEP 2 –
On-Ramp Course: It's All About YOU

On-ramp classes consist of (3) 1 hour sessions that are always performed one-on-one. Whether you are unfamiliar with CrossFit or an elite athlete, all new athletes must be evaluated for on-ramp.  These classes are specifically designed to build competence in the 9 basic movements of CrossFit. We will also introduce basic gymnastic movements and Olympic lifting later on. We patiently move at your pace to make you feel comfortable and confident. You will learn and practice each movement/exercise during each session as well as have a trainer identify your starting modifications or level where you will start your training. This session also gives us the ability to see your strengths and weaknesses needed to help you better perform in group classes.

F.A.Q.

Is this for me? It seems kind of, ‘intense’.

CrossFit is a scalable program. Everything that we do can be broken down, either by modifying a movement, lowering time or reps, or dropping the weight. When you start with us, you’re going to learn the form first and you’ll spend a lot of time with a PVC pipe and not a barbell. Mechanics, then consistency, THEN intensity – that’s the CrossFit way.

What type of results should I expect?

You should expect to gain capacity in all of the 10 General Physical Skills. Those are: Strength, Cardio/Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Accuracy, Agility and Balance. Depending on how you eat, you might also see some body composition changes (losing or gaining weight). If you need a quick analog for the typical CrossFit athlete, think about an 800m runner. Lean, muscular and capable of doing a lot of work.

I play a sport. Can I do CrossFit?

Yes. You should view CrossFit as your General Physical Preparedness (GPP) program. When you’re off season, you’ll do more GPP and less Sport Specific Conditioning (SSC). As your season approaches, you’ll dial down the GPP and increase the SSC. CrossFit has plenty of former and current athletes amongst our ranks and CrossFit seems to fit really well in this framework.

Do you provide any guidance on scaling or are the athletes ‘on their own’?

Yes. Our Coaches are able to effectively scale the daily workout for individual application. We do this in every class and this is part of our regular service.

I need a little extra help with XYZ. What can you do for me?

We provide coaching in all of our classes. If the class instruction and demonstration isn’t working for you, ask the instructor on duty for help. If he/she can’t resolve it during class, then you might need to stay after for a fix. If it’s something that requires a lot of work, we may suggest some one on one training to really drill the weakness and get it solved for good.

You are expensive.

We have no interest in competing with LA Fitness or other gyms. Those gyms are fine if you a) don’t want any coaching, b) don’t need any specialized equipment and c) don’t care about a fun, supportive and gently competitive environment. That’s what we offer. This is our life. We get results with our clients and we’re serious about it.

What makes it worth the investment?

It’s a place where people get fit and healthy in a world of stress.

A place where coaches guide you to strength you never knew you had.

A place where people care about how you eat, how you live and how you feel.

A place where you can develop a community of friends from all walks of life.

A place that will go out and run 5k’s with you, even marathons, to help you get through it.

When you walk into our gym, you get a place that cares far more about your health than the monthly invoice, a place that welcomes you and actually makes you eager to get out of bed at 6am to hit the WOD with your friends.

You get a place that becomes family.

Our gym gets you results and it will make you stronger, faster, healthier and more motivated to reach your potential than you ever thought you would be.

It’s the best place in the world to invest in YOURSELF, and there is no better bargain in the world!!
